National Night Out 2009 “Street Safe Boston”

National Night Out Boston 2009 "Street Safe Boston" is the 26th annual citywide celebration. This program cultivates and strengthens partnerships among the community, youth, police, city agencies and community-based organizations. National Night Out also acknowledges the remarkable contributions of Neighborhood Watch groups, and seeks to increase participation in Neighborhood Watch programs among local residents.

The following is a schedule of events:

District Events, Block Parties, Neighborhood Walks, Porch Sits, and Garden Events: July 19, to Sunday, August 2nd.

  • Each Police District in Boston will host is a district wide celebration – dates, times, and locations to be announced.
  • Neighborhood Watch groups will host Block Parties, Porch Sits, Neighborhood Walks, and Lights On events - dates, times, and locations to be announced. Register your event now!

Poster Contest Awards Ceremony: July 31, 2009, 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, Boston Police Headquarters.

  • Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Police Commissioner Ed Davis will recognize winners of the "Street Safe Boston" poster contest.

Salute to the Neighborhoods: Saturdayday, August 1st, 2009, 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, Florian Hall, Dorchester.

  • Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Police Commissioner Ed Davis will recognize the cities Top Ten Neighborhood Watch groups of the year as well as the Crime Fighter of the year. 

City Wide Celebration at the Franklin Park Zoo, Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Police Commissioner Ed Davis will host up to 10,000 Bostonians who will enjoy free admission and access to zoo attractions, sponsor booths.
