Report of a possible Flim Flam operation

District C-11 Dorchester, Massachusetts: The following scenario was reported to the E-13(Jamaica Plain) CSO office on Thursday the 22nd.
The caller reports at about 8:00pm "a sweet young lady"(no further description)came to her door asking if she could place a sign in her yard for a security system and to tell her a little bit about the alarm system which was affiliated with GE. The caller did not feel uneasy and answered a few general questions however when she asked the young lady about a website and business card the young lady replied "yes" but produced nothing identifying herself with a business. Then a large white van pulled up (no lettering was seen)(no further description)and the driver was described as "a questionable looking man with tatoos on his left arm" (no further description). He asked the caller questions about animals in the house, other doors in the house, all of this was in the name of answering some questions she had with the young lady.At this point the man got pushy and wanted to come in the house and call his boss and set up an appointment even though the caller insisted she would have to discuss an alarm system with her husband. The caller stated "I am not completely crazy-I closed the door in his face".
If any Dorchester residents have a similar experience with these two characters do not hesitate to call 911 or the station and let our officers respond to verify their legitimacy. Also try to write down as much descriptive information as you can and certainly by no means allow them into your house. Unfortunately with the coming of warm weather we get an increase in flim flam activity.Along with legitimate businesses there are fly-by-night outfits that will rip you off and too frequently it is our elderly citizens who are targeted.
