View Article  National Night Out Nametag Day at Fenway Park a HUGE SUCCESS!!

Neighborhood Crime Watch friends,

On Sunday, July 15, over one hundred community and corporate volunteers and more than fifty Boston Police personnel handed out ten thousand nametags at the National Night Out Nametag Day at Fenway Park. They engaged roughly twenty thousand people in conversations about the importance of getting to know their neighbors and celebrating National Night Out.

Our accomplishment is extraordinary, especially given that it is the first time any one attempted to hand out as many nametags we did. The number of volunteers and nametags distributed proves that when given the chance to participate in a positive crime prevention and community building activity, they will. Congratulations to all involved and thank you!

Special thank you to:

The following are samples of some of the pictures taken of the event. To see all pictures submitted so far please see the Pictures page. All pictures Copyright 2007, Brett Dikeman.

As part of National Night Out Boston 2007, the Boston Police Department’s Neighborhood Crime Watch Unit is embarking on "Nametag Challange" during the July 15 Red Sox game at Fenway Park. The goal of the event is to encourage the approximately 40,000 fans in attendance to wear nametags that will be distributed prior to the start of the game. Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis will welcome the crowd and officially kick off National Night Out Boston 2007.
